Driving to Arizona

We left Kirkland, Washington early in the morning on December 13, 2013
We met Scott and Sunny -- got donuts and hit the road.

We traveled South through Portland, Oregon to our first nights destination in Redding, California where we stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites.  They were pet friendly and Dexter was happy to be out of the car!
This is Kyle at the hotel before we left the first morning.
He looks like the evil Emperor from Star Wars.
He was cold....

Entering Oregon

It was snowing just after Portland and we were a bit worried about snow in the major passes through Oregon and into California.

Scott and Sunny driving along --
you can't see Dexter, he slept a lot -- valium will do that to you.

Going across the pass.  The roads were wet in places but we didn't get snow or icy patches...it was mostly clear through the passes....for which I was very grateful!

Beautiful sunset

It was gorgeous and a picture just doesn't do it justice.

We got to Redding, California in the evening after about 10 hours on the road.
Jon still had to do some work.

Saturday we drove from Redding to Arcadia, California

Some beautiful scenery along the way.

We stayed at the Residence Inn in Arcadia.
This was looking from our unit towards Scott and Sunny's.

The cars were filthy by this point.

This is our car -- crammed full...but organized so that we only had to take one suitcase out at night and the rest just rode along....There was just enough room on the other side of this mess for Kyle to sit.

Kyle letting Dexter have a walk before we left on Sunday.

Sunday we drove from Arcadia, California to San Tan Valley, Arizona
Lots of wind farms along the I-10 .

Welcome to Arizona!

Beautiful scenery in Arizona too.
You can find beauty where you look for it...and I've always loved the look of the desert.

Home Empty Home

This is how the house looked for a couple of days.
Monday after we arrived, we bought a refrigerator and a patio table with four chairs.
Those are what we used until the truck arrived a week later.
