Kyle and I went to Utah to visit....the planning of this trip was geared around my 30th class reunion, 1981 Cyprus Pirates! Kyle knew we were going to go on an airplane, and that he was going to see Papa and Derek. He was soooo excited to go. His suitcase was packed for 3 months! When I "un-packed" it, he loaded it back up. He saved enough money to buy his own ticket (which he's now using for school trips, breakfast and bowling). I, ultimately decided not to attend my class reunion -- and my Dad drove Kyle and I home and spent a week.....it's never long enough, but we so enjoyed having him here.....those adventures will be chronicled later...
Kyle waiting to board the plane in Seattle. We requested a wheelchair for him, and it's really the best way to go.
Watching out the window as we get ready to taxi away from the gate. He was by the window, I was in the middle and a nice lady from Florida was sitting in the aisle seat. When we turned onto the runway, he looked at her and said, "Ready?" And when we got in the air he said, "Woohoo, we did it."
We had a nice flight and Kyle even let go of my hand for about an hour. He ate some bread and watched his iPod. He took lots of "movie-clips" as we landed.....of directly down at the ground, so there aren't too many points of refernce, but he liked it. When we landed and were slowing down, he kept saying "Whoa, whoa, whoa...."
Waiting for Papa to pick us up at the Salt Lake Airport.
Papa picked us up and we drove strait to Logan....to see Derek.
We went through Brigham City and saw the new LDS Temple there -- it's beautiful, but we didn't stop to get a picture.
Kyle fell asleep on the drive....
"kissy-face" in Brigham City
Once in Logan, we went right to LaBeau's -- thinking Derek would be working, but it was his day off. No matter, Kyle made himself right at home, walked around the counter, hugged all the girls, and said, "Fries, please"....so they made him a jumbo order!
Derek's pony-tail......He loves having long hair -- it's just sooo curly!
Loving being with Derek!
Kyle and Austin
We spent a couple of hours at Barry's house.....visiting and enjoying being together....then we headed down the road to Papa's house.
A few changes at LaBeau's since we were there in May....New table tops and logo.
New, very cool lockers -- go Aggies.
And a license plate from "Yap State" -- Kurt picked it up (somehow) when he visited there....one of just a few!
Cowboy Kyle
Kyle loves his black cowboy hat that he got in May -- but he's always wanted a "John Wayne" vest....and this trip we found one for him at Ream's. I was going to put it away for Christmas, but had to have him try it on, to be sure it fit.....and then he wouldn't take it off....he is a fierce cowboy!
This is my favorite picture of him! Love the eyes -- CRAZY!
Scott was not with us on this trip -- but he wanted to be a cowboy too, so this is after we got home.
Ann & Nathan
We met Ann and Nathan Dunn when Kyle was 4 months old and started attending early-intervention group. Kyle and Nathan have birthdays that are just three weeks apart. Ann helps keep me grounded and encouraged...she is a great friend and I was so glad we got to see them! Nathan and Kyle have been pretty good "buds" for all these years....wish we lived closer, but we had a good, if short, visit!
Nathan, Gracie (Ann's granddaughter), Kyle
Getting a good picture of these two was challenging....and getting a good picture of the two of us was almost impossible -- Kyle had my camera and Nathan had Ann's, but we did have a couple of laughs! And ended up with a few good shots.

This ends the first installment of our trip....keep your eyes peeled for future installments....I know you're all waiting with anticipation that knows no bounds!
