Port Angeles with Papa

We like to take a day-trip or two while Papa is here.  See different things and the beauty of Washington.
This time we went to Port Angeles -- just for the day.

Leaving the ferry dock at Edmonds, Washington

Kyle -- through the glass...he didn't want to come out on the deck on the ferry.

...then he changed his mind.

Kyle -- heading down to the beach, and then back -- BY HIMSELF!
This may not be or feel significant to anyone but me, but over the past few years, when he's been so unstable, he has lost a lot of his independence.....and that he took off, by himself, to see what he wanted to see, just warmed my little heart!  Just about brought me to tears.  I am so thankful that he can walk, and move, and live his life.  I'm thankful that he's getting stronger, and re-gaining some of his independence!  Love this boy!

On the pier at Port Angeles

Water life -- looking down from the pier.
On the left:  a red crab in the kelp
top:  a school fo fish and if you look close you can see the yellow-ish crab under the leaves
bottom:  on the left of the picture you can better see the yellow crab.

No parking Dad!

Ships in the bay -- as we drove around toward the Coast Guard station...

Coast Guard Station...Papa showed his Coast Guard credentials and we were ushered right onto the station.  Spent some money at the Exchange, and got some shots of the boats/ships
The big ship in the back is the 210 foot "Active".
The ship in foreground is the 87 foot "Wahoo".

WAHOO!

Macdirmiad Hall which serves as the Station HQ!

It was sooo cool to go on the Coast Guard station!  Dad has actually visited this station while on duty.  So he was able to see changes and things that are the same.  Highlight of my trip!

Kyle in his Coastie cap!

Thought these were kinda cool stained glass windows that were inside the restaurant where we stopped for lunch in Port Angeles.

Had a great time and a fun trip out to the Peninsula -- but you already know that we love Port Angeles.....and this was such fun.
