Thru the Canyon

Thru the canyon.....
Logan Canyon that is -- as a kid we often stopped at...

Rick's Spring

Time marches on, and things change....the area around Rick's Spring has changed....the drinking fountain piped from the springs, is gone.  The bathrooms, up the steep trail, are gone.  But the Spring remains, and it's still fun to stop....remember, share and make new memories!

Where the Spring bubbles to the surface....

Derek -- testing the water....
FREEZING COLD!

Mitch, Austin, Logan and Derek --

The snow pack in mid-May was amazing!  Still so much snow.

Thru the canyon.....

.....to my favorite place on earth!

The first glimpse always takes my breath away!

Why, you may ask is this place so special to me?
The summers I was nine and ten, my Dad was stationed at Bear Lake, where he ran summer camp for his Coast Guard Reserve Unit.  We lived in a 15 foot trailer, a tent, and the back of the truck.  Every two weeks new "Coasties" would come for their summer camp -- but we got to stay the entire summer, camped on the shore, at the State Park.  It was awesome!  We had hot dog roasts nearly every night.  Swamped our canoo and pulled it shore, swam, and loved every minute of those two summers.

I have such great memories of this place.  After those summers, we would often come to the lake, and camp up St. Charles, or Paris Canyon with the Messerly's....those are great memories too -- kick the can, hiking, exploring....and always the lake.

Thanks to everyone for going with us to the lake for a picnic!  It was one of the warm and sunny days of our trip -- I think there were three such days out of 12.
