We went with a Firefighter theme this year...

I love how the cake turned out and Kyle was so excited!

We had our friends over for cake and ice cream....but I didn't put very many pictures in this post....just the most important ones!

OH MY WORD!  It's a fire coat!  A REAL fire coat!

 

How did we come by one of these you ask?  Or you didn't ask, and I'm going to tell you anyway....

Near one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, is a little shop we'd never noticed before.  They sell fire gear.  We went in to see if they sell to just anyone.  They said they did, but that a new fire coat is $1,000.  WOW!  Too much.....but the lady said that she would look and see if she had any used ones in the size we needed.  She called about an hour later and said that she'd found a coat that would work....and she'd sell it to me for $50.

 

I went down to pay for it - and she told me it was a "demo" coat that they used when selling to fire departments, so it wasn't used, it's in excellent condition and it fit!

 

The boy was in heaven!

And YES!  He wore it to school the next day!

In his new coat and the fire hat that Uncle Andy sent him....

He wore the hat to school too.
