Snowflake Lane -- Bellevue, Washington

Sometimes traditions change and grow and we adapt and learn to enjoy new and different things. We have always loved to go to Temple Square at Christmas time and it was especially wonderful when we shared it with family. In the past couple of years we have replaced Temple Square (due to the distance) with Snowflake Lane and we are finding other places to enjoy as well -- see post about Bellevue Botanical Garden --

Snowflake Lane takes place in Bellevue, Washington in front of the Bellevue Collection which is a collection of 3 malls, hotels, restaurants, bowling alleys and the theater where Scott works. Each Christmas season (for the past 5 years) they decorate with lighted snowflakes, drums and drummer boys. It's very fun to look at, but each night at 7 p.m. A live drum line parades out and takes up their positions facing the street. The play to the strains of piped music and there are snow machines that "make snow" -- if you can call it that, and when they work. There are people dressed up as characters and people on stilts who pass out candy, dance and pose for pictures with the visitors. It's lots of fun!

Sunny, Kyle and I went last night and these are some photo's and "movie" of the event. Jon is in England and Derek was in the mall -- afterwards we went to see a movie....fun, fun, fun!
