Phoenix Zoo

Drew's greatest desire was to go to the Zoo.

 

So we did.

All of us went -- including Scott and Sunny!

We had a great day!

Before the zoo entrance was a large pond with lots of turtles and ducks.

All happy and full of energy.

We had lunch -- it was zoo food -- filling but not amazing.

Drew had "double" chips and a Pepsi.

Good thing they had a "private" stash of Pepsi, because Drew hates Coke.

The tiger kept its back toward the fence....

....until Drew got there.  Then it "talked" to Drew...made a few

loud growly noises and turned its back to the fence again.

White Rhino

There was an Egyptian Goose in the enclosure with the rhino -- it was mean!  Chasing other birds that came into the enclosure until they flew out.  Clearly the gooses domain.

Mandrill

The three of them -- stuffed themselves into a photo booth.

Odd looking animal...we didn't go over to see what it was.

Drew had the most amazing smile on his face when he came down the stairs, I've never seen a bigger smile on his face and I missed taking a picture!  Sunny wasn't far behind.

Scott, Sunny and Drew went into the monkey village...

the monkey's were in the trees right along the path.

Komodo Dragons

Drew is a dragon whisperer...

...okay, it's really just a sculpture.

The adult komodos weren't in their enclosure.

But there were baby komodos.

I think this picture is sideways.

This was the other highlight of the afternoon.

Drew rode the mountain lion.

Kyle rode a horse.

...and Sunny...

she rode a bunny.

Did you know that one of her nicknames is.......

Sunny Bunny?

Another one is puddin' pants, but really,

only Roger calls her that.

Scott and Jon refused to ride the carousel.

They sat and observed.

 

After the zoo, we had dinner at

Whataburger

Drew is a tough competitor.

Ha -- beat you Sunny.

 

All in all, we had a great day.
