Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a great day!

I love Thanksgiving.  I love the preparation for Thanksgiving.  Just the process brings me joy. The shopping, making stuffing, making pies, putting the bird in the oven....it's just amazing fun!

This year I made twelve pies.

Our first Thanksgiving here in Washington was sad.  We were all missing family.  It was rainy, it was just the five of us....we ate dinner and went to the park and cried when we talked to the family who was enjoying the day together and without us.  We were a sad, sad, bunch.

In the intervening years we've filled our home with friends and soon-to-be friends who didn't have anywhere else to go.  And I've enjoyed every year.

This year, we came full circle.  It was just the five of us....Derek didn't make it home this year.  But it was a nice, quiet, relaxing day -- very different from our first Thanksgiving here, small but awesome.

And then, as is our tradition, since we can't eat all the pie -- friends (our family here) came over to eat pie, visit and play games.  It was a great day!

We have so much to be thankful for.  We have each other, we have work and enough income to meet our needs, Derek, Scott, and Sunny are all employed and able to meet their needs.  We have the gospel in our lives.  We know that God hears and answers prayers, that He is mindful of each of us.

We hope that each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
