American Airlines

Kyle's fascination with flying began when we took several trips in one year.

 

The scenario was the same, we went to the airport,

boarded the plane, rented a car, stayed in a hotel, and then returned home.

He LOVED it!

 

Kyle's fascination with American Airlines began when he was watching

"Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2".

He would pause the movie, and type the letters for

American Airlines into his phone.

 

He now prints "American Airlines" on everything he writes.

School papers,

Endorsing a check,

and every other thing he can think of.

Mostly it's to send a message to us, ~the parents, who aren't "getting" the message~ that he is ready NOW to take another trip.

And not a lame trip where you drive for hours, but a trip where you get on an airplane and rent a car!

And if the car could be black that would be the icing on the cake.

The ice cream would be staying in a hotel.

The cherry on top ~ seeing Derek and Papa.

 

Jon's new contract has him flying to Chicago each week.

He has flown on United Airlines, US Airways and American Airlines.

He has brought Kyle die cast replicas of airplanes from United and US Airways but has been unsuccessful in finding an airplane proudly displaying American Airlines.

Until...

...this week.

Jon had to buy an "airport" set.

He paid, $26 for the thing!

 

It was a huge success!

WOW!

It was amazing to me....because in all of Kyle's 20 years, this is the only toy that he has actually played with more than once (not counting video games).

 

Here is the process he set up and showed me last night.

Over and over....

Bags go on the plane.

Sprite gets loaded.

Buckle your seat belt.

Push back from the gate.

Go fast down the runway.

Up, up, up you go.

Fly for a while.

Land the plane.

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.

(which is what he says everytime we land.)

 

And there you have it!

He ran this scenario again and again....instead of getting ready for bed.

 

He took the plane to school today and I believe it will be one of his most prized possessions.

Funny that he's never actually flown on American ~ but he does associate American Airlines with taking a trip.
