Dubious Acquisitions

February 19, 2009 -- Derek was summoned for help by Dan Laycock. He needed some help moving a couple of pieces of furniture. We arrived (I went to see the baby) and Derek helped Dan move an entertainment center, and was "gifted" a rather large television set. I told Dan, "It's just what we need! Every family room needs at least 3 27 inch or greater TV's.
When we went outside, Derek had also agreed to take this most wonderously-ugly-large-red chair! "It's so comfortable!" His thinking was to replace this most splendiforous piece of 1970's furniture in the lovely orange, brown and avocado colors so popular at the time. We have had this chair for at least 12 years -- when it was gifted to us by my parents. So we now have two big ugly chairs in the family room...neither one fit very well....but we have them. And to the red-chairs credit, it's more comfortable than the other one.
We also took the above-mentioned TV -- alas, it was too big for the table we were going to put it on, so we went back and took the free cabinet from the Laycock's. They were happy to be rid of the extra furniture and we now have a big cabinet to go along with the big chair and a big TV to go along with the 2 other big TV's in the same room.

We have one family TV -- one TV that is hooked to the x-box 360 -- and the third TV that has a DVD/VCR and Nintendo game cube hooked to it. The third TV is so that Kyle can watch his movies and we aren't subjected to a constant barrage of musicals and John Wayne movies (which we love, but which can get old). That way -- we have plenty of noise, games, movies, you name it.....and we get to do it all together. Ah, family time....it's the BEST!
