How many of you have seen the movie, "Firehouse Dog"?

Yes -- it is really a movie -- and, Yes, we saw it in the movie theatre and we now own it on DVD.

It's a nice little story, about a famous dog (he's an actor, dontcha know?) who quits his life to become a fire house dog.  In the mix are a Fire Captain, and his son, and an entire fire station of fire fighters.  I won't give away the ending or anything, in case you want to see it, or at least let your grand-kids, kids, or others see the movie.....

...But suffice it to say, that Kyle has become obsessed with firefighters, fire trucks, ambulances, and police officers.  Every time we drive pass the fire station, he wants to stop and go in.  Can you even do that without an appointment?  And you have to have a miniumum of 10 peope for a fire station tour....so what to do....

Saturday, June 23rd....we got brave, and Jon turned into the parking lot at the fire station....we had passed driveway where the truck garage is, and I didn't see any trucks....but we pulled in anyway.  And....no one was home. 

But....there was a police car in the driveway, and Kyle got out of the van, walked up, bold as you please, and said, "Hi."  After a little bit of interpreting on our part, the police officers let Kyle sit in the police car.

And then the officers were kind enough to pose with him next to their car.  He was in heaven! 

Awww....but what of the fire station?  Funny you should ask, because he would NOT let up, until we went back later in the afternoon, and rang the bell again! 

This time they were home.

Guess what?  You can just walk up to the fire station, ring the bell and talk to a fire fighter and get a tour -- at least Kyle did!

This compartment has all sorts of fire fighting tools, and equipment for rescues...

Loving every minute -- in his new favorite shirt and hat!

The hoses are on the back of the truck.  The yellow ones are the big hoses they hook to the fire hydrants.  The smaller orange hoses are the ones they take into buildings.

This is the compartment on the other side of the truck,and it holds emergency gear, and big couplers for the hoses.

The amubulance was there too.

There's the gurney -- Kyle thought he should get to lay on the gurney and have an oxygen mask....movie again....

Then to get his picture taken with firefighter Tomczak, Kyle got to wear an actual helmet from inside the truck!

What a fun day -- and it was so kind of the police officers and firefighter Tomczak to take the time and make the effort to make one little boy -- oops, strike that -- one young man, happy and they made him feel special.

Firefighter Tomczak said, "Stop by anytime.  We love it when the neighbors visit."  He may live to regret those words!  It is summer, and today is the last day of school (June 25th) and we will have lots of time on our hands.....
