Rockin' New Year's Eve

Yes, it's true! The Saunders had a Rockin' New Year's Eve Party, this year. We were very lucky to have Chelsea visiting from Alaska, and although we enjoyed her presence for a brief but ecstatic period, we were grateful she would make some time to spend with us, on her way to school in Rexburg, Idaho.

We enjoyed many moments of musical bliss as most everyone tried their hand at "Rock Band". Either singing or playing the guitar, bass or drums.



Derek was our most adventurous and fun lead vocal guy. Kyle had fun beating the drums and even Jon took a turn.













Jon made a couple of cheese balls and invented a new recipe this year -- didn't write it down, but Chelsea got an ingredient by ingredient (which I think she tuned out) adventure while he created his culinary masterpiece. He made some yummy Chex mix too. I made Cocktail meatballs and those are the best things ever! You should try them......

I was told I was a little bit obnoxious taking photo's, but how often does Chelsea visit? So she just had to deal with it. Documentation of adventures is important!

Kyle and Meghan Buchanan had fun playing Kyle's basketball game.

Chelsea insited -- that there must be a cheesy photo of me, if she had to endure too. So there you have it.







"Uno Flash" was one of our new games this year and it was a great hit. Various groups played all night long.

Laura Price brought Kyle a new T-shirt and a McDonalds gift card....he was so excited and loves the shirt.

"Snorta" was our other new game this year and it is so much fun......we enjoyed choosing and making animal sounds and laughed a lot! This year we didn't have as many people as usual but it was still a very fun and good group. Laura Price, Ray & Susan Skinner, Rich and Bernie Wilkinson, Brenda Wilkinson, and our neighbors, Scott & Marjorie Buchanan along with their kids, Alan and Meghan, and Scott's folks, Kermit and Jerry Buchanan. We had a fun time. We also played "Apples to Apples" and had many laughs with that game.



Laura Price and Susan Skinner -- Love these ladies. Laura gave me a plaque that says, "Friends are the family we choose for ourselves." And they are our family and we are so blessed to have them close!

Kyle and Alan enjoyed playing a variety of games.

Poppers at Midnight

While many enjoyed lavish displays of fireworks, either their own OR at an exotic locale -- Kirkland city only allows poppers as the highlight of homemade celebrations. But we enjoyed pulling the cord, and releasing the confetti!

New Year's Day

Chelsea abandoned us to head to Portland, OR and then on to school. But we had fun at the Train station. Who knew that you didn't need to arrive too far in advance to ride a train. That was the greatest hour and half we've ever spent in a train station. Again, Chelsea endured the photo's, so I could share them with her mom.....What a trouper Chelsea!

Chelsea drew the line and told me to "go sit down" when I was going to ask the little conductor train man, with the hat and pocket watch, if he'd pose for a picture with Chelsea, so this was as good as I could get.





Out the door and onto the train -- bye Chelsea -- see you in the summer!
