While Jon, Derek and Scott were having fun in Alaska, Kyle and I drove to Utah. Laura and Amanda Price rode to Utah with us, and we had a good trip. We spent three weeks with Papa. We bought a 3 foot swimming pool and set it up in the back yard. Kyle enjoyed swimming nearly every day. It was actually a very selfish purchase on my part -- that little pool meant I could sit in the shade and watch Kyle swim, instead of sitting on the shadeless pool deck at the Magna pool. Nathan Dunn came a couple of times to swim and hang out. I had fun visiting with Ann and catching up.
We drove to Bear Lake and had lunch with Barry and Lynn and their family. We drove to Gunnison and had lunch with Mark and Jodi and most of their family. We missed Ashlyn though.
When we came home, Derek came with us. We also brought Jon's mom for a visit, and our twin grand-nieces. We had a caravan and it was good to travel together. Derek's transmission went out in La Grande, Oregon. So after we determined that we couldn't get it fixed on a Saturday, and we couldn't rent and car, and it wouldn't make it over the next mountain pass, Jon and Scott left from Kirland and headed East, on a six hour drive to La Grande. Mom, Kyle, the twins and I headed West and left Derek with his car. He went to a movie while he waited. We passed Jon and Scott at Yakima, Washington, and stopped for a taco. Then we went our seperate directions. Jon and Scott reached Derek in 5 hours -- they must have been flying. They loaded all of Derek's things in the van, drove the car to a salvage yard and left it.
That was a big adventure! Derek is now carless, but working at Eagle View Technologies. Some adventures are more fun than others!
