June 2008 -- Mitch's Farewell

June 2008 -- Scott, Daniel Aguirre, Kyle and I, drove to Utah for Mitch's (my nephew) farewell. Derek was already there, since he moved in February. Jon was flying in from Chicago, where he'd been on a business trip. We had a nice, uneventful trip. We stopped twice and got to Ogden in twelve hours. We spent that night with Jon's brother, Kevin and his family.

Kyle loves it at Uncle Kevin's house because there are so many things to do and he gets to be a cowboy.

The greatest part of the trip was when Daniel said, "Wow, why are there are these random cows all over?" I've chuckled about that since then. These "random" cows are beef cows.....

The next day, a Saturday, we continued our journey to Magna and spent the rest of the weekend there -- with the exception of Sunday, for the farewell when we went to Gunnison.

Kurt took the guys to the Great Salt Lake, but most wouldn't get in...

All the boys enjoyed throwing Derek's knives.

After Mitch's farewell we enjoyed great food and fun times with our family and Jodi's family too. It was a great day.

We drove home on Monday -- Scott, Daniel and Kyle, crammed into the back seat of Jon's (new-to-us Toyota Camry) car. It wasn't the most comfortable 14 hours, but we got great gas mileage!
